Lake House has undergone many changes in the past two months and February was no exception.
Two months ago, old Smith and Lake House merged as one family prompting change in many areas. After taking some time to adjust to the changes, students found out leaders, Audra Towsley and Chris Stein would be stepping down and passing the baton on to Roxi Losicco and Peter Jacques.
Losicco and Jacques had been members of the former Smith house and are excited to take on the task of leading the newly merged families into one. “I find it very exciting to be part of the process of blending the worlds of the combined families and to be part of the re-development that is taking place at the school,” said Losicco about her new position as family leader. “We can learn to live life on life’s terms and give it up to God like the third step tells us.”
Honesty Day and house topics have given the school a sense of renewal and Lake House is trying to do the same. Two students were switched from their house in order to give them a fresh start, while the remaining students continued their program work. “Ultimately, the changes made on Honesty Day and the two students switching have really helped me grow both programmatically and spiritually,” said Josh K. about his experience.
When it comes to creativity, things seem to be moving along just as smoothly. Students Cajai F. and Josh K. have been picked to star in the spring play, “The Imaginary Invalid,” directed by Sid Parham.
Along with the involvement in the play, students Nicole K., Larissa A., Cajai, Josh, and Blake J. were chosen to participate in the school’s show choir.
Through all the ups and the downs, Lake House seems to persevere no matter what. And with the warm weather coming soon, they hope to enter the new season as a united and strong family.
