Even with Sarah V. scoring 12 points and racking up steal after steal with the help of guards Denise T. and Michelle J., the Falcons lost to the Livingston Manor Wildcats on February 28, at home, 62-16.

The Falcons won the tip-off and began the game passing around the perimeter and searching for smart shots.

However, a telegraphed pass by Sarah was intercepted by Livingston Manor Wildcat Christine Babich. Moments later Marissa Diescher, leading scorer with 29 points, made the first basket of the game when she drove through the lane and took a lay-up.

After much back and forth play, Sarah intercepted the ball and drove down court where she got fouled and made her lay-up, tying the game at 2. Minutes later, Wildcat guard Angela Zayas drove down the baseline and dropped the ball in for two more.

Sarah answered back with a layup of her own which was assisted by Denise. The quarter ended with the score 13-6, Livingston Manor.

The second quarter was when the Wildcats started to get wild. They came out in a full court press, which the Falcons couldn’t fly by. Able to score only four points and racking up several turnovers, the Falcons started to lose their focus and chemistry.

The second quarter ended with the score 35-10, Wildcats. “We all went into the game open-minded, and it was unfortunate that we lost, but we played to our fullest potential,” said Michelle.

What began in the second quarter, continued through the rest of the game. Livingston Manor outrebounded, outscored, and outplayed the Falcons, giving them the win.

“I respect these girls because no matter what the score is, they never give up,” said Head Coach Carlton Williams. “They always seem to have fun and come back to practice ready to work and give 100 percent.”
