Here to help ... During a Sunday morning study hall, Emily M. shares some of her English skills with Sam F.

Wilson House is off to a good start this month; although they are struggling with being uncharitable they are making great strides to improve. “We have had some discussions and everyone seems willing to take a look at themselves and try and be more compassionate toward one another,” said family leader Christine Speicher.

Former Family Foundation School student Danny R. returned to The Family School even though he had already turned 18. “My life was in a shambles and I was headed toward a dead-end street. “I needed a path to a better life,” said Danny. He knew it would be hard to come back but his life was miserable. Danny had a chance once before at the school and he threw it away. Now he’s come back to give living a sober life another shot. “It’s a good thing that Danny came back, but he needs to follow through for himself,” said family leader Tom Wood. He is taking steps in the right direction and everyone in the family is supporting him to the fullest.

Wilson House said goodbye to family member Joe Barbiere. Barbiere has worked at the school for nine years and has decided to retire. He has been a great support to the family and has helped out many students. “I believe the turning point in my stay was when Joe made me clean the trash house every Saturday for a year. He made me take a look at myself. Now we’re best friends and he has really helped me to turn my life around.” said Wilson house student Sam F.

Wilson House threw a good-bye party for Barbiere and all the students made their best effort to contribute. They took their most pleasurable memories with him and created songs, skits, and poems. The students presented them in front of the family. Barbiere will be missed by Wilson House and the entire school.
