Spring Fever Hits FFS

April 10, 2010

Everybody's Leaping ... The ball is flying, and his shadow is flying too! Silhouetted against the beautiful blue of the just ice-free pond, Wilson House students, Derek W., Jillian M., Kevin G., and Emily M., welcome in spring with the first outdoor volleyball game of the year.

Students were throwing Frisbees, playing the guitar in the grass, and doing their homework on the outdoor picnic tables. This is not abnormal at The Family Foundation School, except for one thing: it was the beginning of March.

Typically March in upstate New York is cold, snowy, and gray. This year, however, temperatures in the high 60s allowed students to get out and break through the cabin fever that comes along with a harsh winter.

The Administration took advantage of the sudden beautiful weather by allowing students to go outside after lunch and during study halls. They believe that it is healthy for both staff and students to be outside after being cooped up during the frosty months of winter. “I like to get out in the spring because it gives me hope, and the first days of spring are hopeful,” said Mike Argiros.

As the days grow longer and the grass grows greener everyone at FFS is looking forward to the months ahead of warm weather, outdoor activities, and plenty of sunshine. “When the sun is out, everyone gets a little happier and you can feel the good vibes,” said Liam M.
