Mann House Takes an Adventure into Hancock for a Night of Memories

As a prize for coming in first at the winter break competition, Mann House won an off-campus movie and pizza party.

The students boarded the buses after 6th period and headed into Hancock. They were grateful that their hard-earned reward was finally happening.

Family Leader, Joe Petriella, decided on the movie “Alice in Wonderland,” which the family was thrilled about. Drinks, popcorn and candy were passed around, and everyone settled into their seats.

Johnny Depp played the role of the man who helps Alice travel around Wonderland in his hat. He was an odd character, but his strange personality made him entertaining. Jackie Petriella said that she was looking forward to watching Depp in this movie, but afterwards she claimed that he was far too weird for her.

After the movie, Joe and Jackie took the kids to the local park in Hancock where they played games until dinner. “It was enjoyable for me to watch the kids have fun out on the field,” said Jackie.

As the sun started to go down, the family went out for a delicious pizza dinner. Staff and students waited impatiently for the food to come. Special kinds of pizza were passed around the tables. The kids devoured them almost instantly. “It was the most fun we’ve had in a while and it felt as if we were all one,” said Nicole H. The fun, worry-less day brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Sometimes there’s a sense of let down when a trip off campus must come to an end, but that was not the case this time. “It was really nice to get off campus with our family, and it was a great way for us all to unify,” said Jordan N. The smile remained on each student’s face and they were all ready for a good night’s rest.
