Jon H.

Class of December ‘09

Prior to being enrolled at The Family Foundation School, Jon H. used drugs, stole and was negative and cynical about much of life. In a desperate attempt to get help, he arrived at The Family School on July 8, 2008. He was enrolled in Family One, now Betton House, and resided in the family for his whole stay.

Jon said his primary struggle at the school had to be with his stubbornness, which landed him with many sanctions. After a while, he realized that he needed to swallow his pride and get on with his program. Shortly after, he began to receive privileges and his stay became smoother.

Jon graduated from FFS in December and is now attending County College of Morris in New Jersey for corrections and law enforcement. He has been sober since he graduated, but he says it hasn’t been an easy ride. He struggles at the moment with school and trying to get a job. “With the help of God and others, I can keep going,” said Jon, who also stays close to many FFS alumni friends.
