Adam B.
Class of June ‘03
Adam B. arrived at The Family Foundation School in 2000. He had been using drugs, drinking heavily and got himself into a lot of trouble with the law. Adam was placed in Family Two and stayed at the school for 33 months.
“My stay was very difficult,” said Adam. Being at the school was the hardest thing he had to go through. He had no willingness to come to terms with the truth and didn’t want to swallow what was being presented to him at the time. His sponsor, Matt D., and many other staff members and peers continued to show him love and support, but it took him a long time to accept it. Willingness followed as he began to work his program and take in suggestions.
“The place changed my life, and I have immense gratitude and love for what this school has done for me,” Adam said. During Adam’s stay, he joined chorus and journalism and learned a lot from the experiences. He also began helping the newcomers and the struggling students, which made him, feel like a nicer, saner person.
After graduating, Adam moved to New York City from South Carolina and got a Master’s Degree in music. He is currently pursuing his career in singing in the opera. “This school can do a lot for you.
Take full advantage of the opportunity being given to you and strive for the life you could have if you decide to work this program. The life you can have is beyond what you can imagine.”
