Administration
Rita Argiros, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, has started the process of getting first aid cards and CPR classes for her Venture Crew students. The goal of the crew is by the end of the year to have the members meet all of the requirements for taking the National Association of Search and Rescue II exam or the DEC Searcher 1. Also, students participated in a school-wide clean-up. In adddition, for the first time in Family Foundation School history, students were invited to a family leaders meeting to discuss the positive aspects of skateboarding.
Admissions
FFS welcomed nine new families in March. Jeff Brain, Admissions Director, visited the New Jersey Prevention Network Conference which is an annual convention that deals with substance abuse. Also, he visited Clearbrook Adolescent Treatment Center in Pennsylvania to expand FFS’ professional network.
Athletics
With such beautiful weather, the softball team has been practicing their catching and batting outside. Similarly, the golf team has been hitting balls at the driving range and has also been running a lot to get in shape. Both of the teams look promising this year. Also, the annual March Madness basketball tournament was a major success.
Performing Arts
After completing a successful performance of The Imaginary Invalid, the performing arts department now sets its sights on the international competition at the North American Music Festival. They are preparing four choruses (mens, womens, mixed and show choir) to compete. Also, they are preparing dances and the chorus for the Family Day performance on May 21 and 22.
Maintenance
The maintenance department has been busy with the finishing touches on the girls’ dorm and is close to completion. After the refurbishment of Mann House, Pam Allen has been setting new molding and painting. The space can accommodate up to 60 students. It will be used as a study hall/meeting room. Also, the department has been fixing the roads and repairing of damage done by snow plowing.
