Administration
Administration has been busy this month with Venturing Crew, renovation of Whiting Hall, and skateboarding. CPR classes have begun for students involved in Venturing Crew. Pam Allen is renovating Whiting Hall in order to store med carts and Room One is getting new desks for study halls and a huge projector for movies on the weekend. In addition, parking space is being taken for skateboarding. Also, faculty advisor Willie Williamson sent out applications for students to sign up for skateboarding.
Admissions
FFS welcomed 13 new families this month! Jeff Brain, Admissions Director, visited Princeton House, an adolescent psychiatric hospital in Princeton, New Jersey. Also, Brain visited the Community Prevention Resources, a community- based substance abuse program in Washington, New Jersey, and he attended a conference in Bermuda sponsored by Schools To Know.
Athletics
The athletic department has been busy this month with completing the last steps to getting skateboarding off the ground. Also, softball is underway and golf is in full swing. Both teams are anticipating winning seasons. In addition, the department is preparing for school-wide volleyball and soccer tournaments.
Performing Arts
The performing arts department is in the final steps of preparation for the annual competition at the North American Music Festival. The department has high hopes and an excellent show choir competing this year, led by choral director, Paul Geer,choreographer, Tom Kovaleski, costume designer, Jackie Petriella, and art designer, Kathy Kovaleski. With live music accompaniment by faculty member Larry Leung and several talented students, this is only one of four categories FFS will compete in. Everyone is invited to come see the Family Day performance which will include all of the acts that competed plus the dance class’ routines on May 22.
Maintenance
Along with the basic day-to-day maintenance jobs, the maintenance department has all of their mowing equipment ready for summer. Also, the department and Pam Allen have been painting and refurbishing Whiting Hall. The new girls’ dorm is projected to be completely finished by May 15.
