Who's house? ... Troy P., Joe C., Charlie W., and Adam S. dance around staff member Panava Markao on Easter morning.

By Max Z.

Betton House students are already breaking through the doors to go outside and enjoy the sun.

BH students are making the best of April through many activities. Jewish students Max Z. and Matt B. were two of the nine students who hosted the Passover Seder. While students kept kosher for Passover, Matt W. unselfishly cooked kosher meals for them. April Fools Day was especially fun when Nash B. played a funny but cruel joke on David K., telling David that he was leaving The Family Foundation School in two weeks. While enjoying the good times, students are also buckling down in school and starting to help the family out more.

Over Easter weekend, most of the Betton House girls went on visits, so the rest went to other families, leaving the house to the boys. The guys made Easter Day nothing but fun, eating tons of candy, dancing to music with staff member Panava Markao and coming in third place in the Easter-egg hunt. “The Easter egg hunt brought me back to my childhood,” said Andrew G.

On a more serious note, Betton’s much-loved family leader Robin Ducey has been ill and wasn’t here for most of the week. Robin and husband Mike Ducey will be retiring in June after more than 20 years of working at FFS. The family also missed staff member Myron VanDemark who came back to work after a month of recovering from pneumonia.

Although Betton House is looking at many changes arriving at June graduation, they are staying in the day and making the best of tough situations.

Dear Betton Family,
All of FFS parents join you in fervent prayer for Robin’s recovery. We are aware of the impact her illness and absence has had on each of you and our hope is that you honor her by your honesty and hard work. May she and Mike retire in excellent health!
A hearty welcome back to Myron as well!
Despite your heavy hearts it is uplifting to read of your laughter in greeting spring and it’s bloom. I look forward to reading more from you Max ,of the good humored antics of Betton. I hope David has forgiven Nash while cooking up a good pay back scheme. Enjoy the sunshine as you each plant your own gardens!
L’Chaim-To Life With Love,
Suzin Z.
