The Grand Opening of the SFCU in Hancock
By Erika C.
There was nothing like a beautiful spring day to celebrate Hancock’s newest addition, Sidney Federal Credit Union (SFCU.) Both the elite of SFCU and Hancock locals turned out for the April 29 Grand Opening of the new Hancock branch.
James Doig, President and CEO of SFCU, considered 13 different locations before deciding that Hancock was the perfect place for his new branch. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 15, and architect Norman Davies and contractor Randy Hay worked closely with Doig on the design and layout of the building.
SFCU has 16,000 members and has branches in seven other locations around Delaware County. It has grown from virtually no assets to over $6 million. SFCU has the busiest ATM network in Delaware County and is known to be very reliable by its customers.
Nancy Milk is the manager of the Hancock branch. She will oversee staff members Megan Appley, Krista Charles, Clara Trask, and Melinda MacRabie.
The Grand Opening consisted of an open house followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting to formally open the branch. Among the guests were Jerry DaBrescia of the Hancock Partners and Mayor of Hancock, Celia Vasquez.
“We are tickled pink that you guys are here, and the building is beautiful,” said Vasquez. Vice Chairman of SFCU, Wayne King, responded, saying, “We are very excited to have a beautiful building that the people of Hancock can be proud of.”
