Cruisin’ Down The Del
Betton House family leaders took the boys on a special family trip to the Delaware River for some summer weather kayaking. Betton House staff including Mike Losicco, Debbie Knack, and Jen Culver accompanied. The boys of Betton House took a ride down the Delaware from nearby Lords Ville led by guide Paul Mang and his crew from The Northeast Wilderness Experience.
After an extensive ordeal on safety, student Mike C. appeared to have not listened as he flipped his kayak within seconds. Following lift-off we were treated to a view of the Delaware River bank and a serene jungle-like weather. After seeing the sights we arrived at our first stop on a little rocky beach for some lunch. Some students went swimming and others skipped rocks. When it was time to head on everyone circled up to say a prayer and then we hopped back in our kayaks. The climax of the trip was later down the river when we came to a giant rock close to the bank. After figuring out how to climb up we took turns jumping off into the river for about half an hour. To finish up the ride we passed through some rapids that left everyone re-soaked.
During our departure we took some group photos, cleaned the kayaks, and loaded up on the bus. On the ride back some of us slept or admired the landscape but most importantly some of us reminisced about the special bonding experience we took part in.
