The New Fall Interns

By Dani R.

The fall semester is rolling in well-equipped with a whole new batch of interns. There are 14 new eager, smiling, faces on the intern board in the coffee room, 11 busy departments, and a whole lot of work to do. However, there is a lot more to a work study than what appears on the surface.

The interns and their bosses are but the cement of our concrete “Foundation.” Through hard work and great effort, everything becomes possible. Behind the newly cut lawn, the neatly filed papers, the happy, obedient dogs, the freshly brewed coffee, the extra coverage, the impeccable publications, and the overall muscle of the school, there probably lies a dedicated intern who put in some work.

This position is not just a privilege; however, it is a huge opportunity to help people and give back to the school that has given us so much. Journalism intern Tyler M. says, “I enjoy having the opportunity to go to work and school at the same time. Not to mention it feels good to help people out. I’m very grateful to be an intern. ”

Along with his co-workers Mike C. and Dani R., the journalism work is to write, edit, and produce the school newspaper and yearbook. Dog Corps interns Adam B. and Lucas V-P. are the devoted caretakers of the dogs in the Search and Rescue unit; fully-outfitted with BDU’s, walkie-talkies, and a handful of treats in their pockets. The Health Office and Counseling intern, Tom M. is the guy to call when you need a band-aid or just a helping hand. Liz O. and Nolan W. handle the business side of things; holding down the Senior Floor and Business Office positions respectively. Admissions interns Brian L. and Summer F. are responsible for conducting tours, enrollments, and helping new students and parents. Noel C. and Steve R. are the brains of the Math and Science and I.T. departments, always solving any problems that may arise. Ali G. is our gifted Foundation writer, managing our website and blog. Conor S. is always busy cooking and cleaning as our enthusiastic kitchen intern. Lastly, there is Stefan D. in the new Performing Arts position, helping with the fall musical, Little Shop of Horrors.
