Student of The Month

By Mike C.
Dan F. was recognized as student of the month at a school-wide assembly on September 7
To describe all that Dan does in a few words is impossible. He is always there for any student who needs a kind and compassionate ear to listen to their struggles. You will never hear “no I don’t want to,” or “I don’t have time to talk to you now,” from him. He is always the first to volunteer and last to give up on anything. He enrolled at the school on… and has since grown into a responsible, mature and respectable young man. He became a Residential Assistant in December 2011 and Lake House Dorm leader in June 2012. He was given these positions because he has come far enough along in his personal growth to be considered mature enough to handle more responsibilities and is trusted by staff and students alike to maintain order in the house and dorm. Well known for his constant service and charity work in his House and the community, his kind, caring and compassionate attitude towards everyone, he has made himself a friend and role model to all.
Candidates for student of the month must be trusted members of the community, be considered responsible and mature enough to be junior sponsor and must maintain an average score of 80 in all their academic classes. They are the leaders of the student body. The award itself is a symbol of the student’s accomplishments and serves as an accolade to the student to ever encourage them to continue their work here at The Family Foundation School. Students who receive the award are always mindful to maintain a standard of excellence for all other students follow
Ann Janauer, Dean of Students, asked the student body to vote on who should receive the title of student of the month. Two days later Janauer made an announcement at lunch circle up that Dan was to be our new student of the month. To an accompaniment of thunderous applause, Janauer presented Dan with a certificate as proof of his accomplishments. “Being named student of the month is an honor and I am thankful that people recognize and appreciate the work I am doing,” said Dan. After the applause died down, Mike Argiros, President and CFO, announced that he will be taking Dan, his sponsor Bill Cordts, and his junior sponsor Mike Cohen out for lunch to celebrate Dan’s new title. “Being named student of the month is an honor and I am thankful that people recognize and appreciate the work I am doing,” said Dan.
