No Labor on Labor Day

Dunk Tank, Laser Tag, Movie and Candy

By Dani R.

The summer concluded with a tremendous splash — in the dunk tank.

For students at The Family School, Labor Day weekend was jam-packed with activities, including an outdoor showing of The Hunger Games. Students watched Katniss and Peeta fight for their survival against the evil game makers on a huge inflatable screen.

There was plenty of action inside, too, as students got strapped and ready for battle—Laser Tag in the gym. Matt S. (code name Viper 400) was ecstatic. “Laser Tag is always my favorite activity because it is so intense. I got serious.”  For students at The Family School Labor Day weekend was jam-packed with activities, including  an outdoor showing of The Hunger Games. Students watched Katniss and Peeta fight for their survival against the evil game makers on a huge inflatable screen.

The cold, rainy weather didn’t slow down the action. Activities coordinator, Paul Geer, and his diligent crew turned the gym into an indoor carnival. With an inflatable boxing ring, music, hotdogs, snow cones, cotton-candy, a dunk-tank, a bouncy house, games, and prizes one it was hard to remember it was The Family School gymnasium.

What really made it a party, though, were the students. It was awesome to see the whole student body in the gym, smiling, laughing, playing—or even snuffing each other in the bouncy ring. “This was actually the best Labor Day I’ve ever had,” said Rachael D.
