Boys Soccer Makes Sectionals, 9-0 Win Over Eldred Puts the Falcons in Play-offs

By: Matt S.
The Family Falcons Boys Varsity soccer team has secured themselves a spot in Sectionals after their 9-0 win against Eldred on Wednesday, October 3.
Five minutes into the first half, senior Lucas V.P. scored the first goal with a great shot to the left post. Moments later, with another shot by Lucas V-P and a deflection off an Eldred defender, the Falcons had a 2-0 lead. With a great cross and a head ball to the goal, junior Matt S. scored the third goal of the game putting the Falcons 3-0 over Eldred at the half.
Early in the second half Lucas V.P. added his third goal of the game with a great shot to the upper right post. Falcons took a 4-0 lead. Seconds later Lucas V.P. had the ball and dribbled around the Eldred midfield, he sent a lead pass to Matt S. who would beat the defender and took a shot to the far left post, giving the Falcons a 5-0 lead.
To make sectionals a team must defeat the other teams in their division. After playing the Eldred Yellow Jackets and Chapel Field Lions twice this season and beating both teams, the Falcons won their division and earned a spot in sectionals.
The Falcons game was dedicated to Bill Kromer, a Spanish teacher at FFS, who passed away Wednesday. Kromer was a great teacher, sponsor and friend to many of the staff and students at FFS. He was also a soccer coach for many years at Downsville and followed the Falcon’s soccer teams closely. He will be missed by all.
